African private sector perspective

The program and participation of the conference is shaping up well. An interesting aspect is the participation of Africa's private sector.

Prominent African private sector participants at the conference include Maria Ramos, who takes over on March 1 as CEO of South African financial services firm ABSA; Michael Joseph, CEO of Safaricom, a leading mobile phone firm in Kenya; Naushad Merali, Group Executive Chairman of Kenya's Sameer Group; philanthropist and telecom tycoon Mo Ibrahim. Also participating is Zephirin Diabre, Middle East and Africa region chairman of the French power firm Areva.
Their perspectives on doing business on the continent will help drive discussion at the conference on what steps African countries should take to attract more private sector investment.
