From Dar
Technical crews are putting the finishing touches to the Bank of Tanzania's new convention center, where the IMF-Tanzania government conference will open on Tuesday.
The conference is taking place against a backdrop of deteriorating global economic conditions and will help in raising international awareness about the impact of the crisis on Africa. The IMF's African department will be releasing a paper on Monday that will examine the impact and policy implications for the region. The paper provides the background and context for finance ministers and central bank governors when they arrive in Dar to discuss how the continent should deal with the crisis.
Of course, this is not the only item on the conference agenda. The conference also provides a platform for African policymakers, the private sector, civil society and academics to discuss how continent can build on its recent economic success. I will be blogging on these issues starting Monday and look forward to receiving your feedback and views.

Will the conference research
Will the conference research papers and speeches be posted on this website. It would be a shame if we don't receive any information on the decisions taken by policymakers at this important conference.
